Big change at Tottenham Hotspur this evening.

Daniel Levy Leaves Spurs After 24 Years

A NEW ERA?

Tottenham Hotspur have entered a brand-new era after Daniel Levy, the club’s long-serving chairman, stepped down with immediate effect. The announcement came as a surprise to many, bringing an end to a reign that lasted nearly 25 years and made him the longest-serving chairman in Premier League history.

Levy first took charge in 2001 and has overseen a transformation few could have predicted at the time, including a brand-new stadium.

But for all the progress off the pitch, Levy’s tenure has divided opinion. Supporters have often been frustrated by the lack of silverware, with Spurs lifting just two major trophies under his watch – the 2008 League Cup and the Europa League in 2024. Managerial turnover was another sticking point, with a revolving door of head coaches never quite finding the consistency needed to deliver Premier League or Champions League glory.

In his farewell statement, Levy reflected with pride on what he achieved, admitting the journey had not always been easy but insisting the club is in a far stronger position than when he first took the reins. He also promised to remain a passionate supporter of the club.

Tottenham were quick to announce a succession plan. Peter Charrington has been named the new Non-Executive Chairman, while Vinai Venkatesham – formerly at Arsenal – has already settled into the role of Chief Executive Officer. On the pitch, Thomas Frank has recently replaced Ange Postecoglou as head coach of the men’s side, while Martin Ho continues to lead the women’s team.

For the first time in almost a quarter of a century, Tottenham will move forward without Daniel Levy at the helm. Whether this marks the beginning of a golden era or another chapter of near misses remains to be seen.
